Rush Limbaugh Right-Wing-Wrong-Again, Conservative Whiny-Faux-Victim Wrong Again

Conservatives are the single most whiny victim-claiming bunch of advantaged bigots I've ever encountered.

Rush Limbaugh is the king of the liars, of the big-mouth fact-averse bigots and whiners, who panders to the worst impulses of his listeners through vicious propaganda.

His latest bit of bogus boo hoo relates to college and professional football and homosexuality.  It underlines just why it was such a really good thing that Limbaugh was not permitted to buy in to an NFL team ownership, as he is not a suitable owner for the good of the sport.

From Politico:

Rush Limbaugh on Michael Sam: Heterosexuals under attack

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh says heterosexuals are “under assault” from the small fraction of the public that is gay and blames the media for turning football player Michael Sam into an icon.

“Why does homosexuality have a political agenda? Why is there anything political about homosexuality while heterosexuality has no political agenda and there is no agenda attached to it?” Limbaugh said, according to a show transcript. “They’re under assault. You say, ‘Heterosexuality may be 95, 98 percent of the population.’ They’re under assault by the 2 to 5 percent that are homosexual.”The conservative firebrand played clips of an interview with NFL star Jonathan Vilma on CNN, during which he clarified statements that were previously criticized as homophobic. Limbaugh said it was evidence of the media spinning the story.

“The media is gonna turn [Sam] — whether he wants to be one or not, they’re gonna turn him — into an activist. He is going to become one,” Limbaugh said. “He’s the Rosa Parks, he’s the Martin Luther King, he’s the Jackie Robinson. They’re gonna turn this guy into an activist. … This is going to be a totally media driven-story, totally — and because of that, it’s gonna mess everything up.”
Homosexuality, or bisexuality, or transgender sexuality is not assaulting anyone or anything. That there are any politics associated with it results ONLY from those individuals being treated differently and badly, such as being denied equal rights to marriage and families, or having their children taken away from them in spite of being not just good, but in some cases exemplary parents. And it results from being harassed with slurs and outright violence, not just prejudice and bullying. There is a need for activism to oppose oppressive legislation. There is a need for activism, especially in the media, to push back against lies and propaganda. No one is making heterosexuals a victim in ANY WAY by any of those things, least of all criticism for a lack of clarity in an apparent expression of homophobia.
Let me give you an example of what heterosexual assault, and the kind of lies and hatred that Limbaugh promotes looks like to show our good readers what victimization and assault really look like. Raw Story illustrated that with a story about a false claim made by an ex-Navy chaplain.

from Raw Story:

Ex-Navy chaplain: Consequences of sin force gay soldiers to wear diapers in combat

A disgraced Navy chaplain promoted the grotesque warnings of anti-LGBT religious leaders Tuesday on his syndicated radio program.
Gordon “Dr. Chaps” Klingenschmitt read from a press release issued earlier this month by three retired military chaplains who claimed that allowing LGBT troops to serve openly in the military undermined civilization itself, reported Right Wing Watch.
Klingeschmitt, who was reprimanded by the U.S. Navy for disobeying orders against political activities in uniform, said the retired chaplains were advocating on behalf of active-duty religious leaders who were unable to speak out.
“In the wake of the Obama administration’s repeal of the don’t ask don’t tell policy, many military chaplains would be criticized as ‘not a team player’ or even denied promotions like the 65 evangelicals who are still suing the Navy if they dared to criticize for example the sin of homosexuality,” said Klingenschmitt, making ironic air quotes as he spoke. “But these three retired chaplains are now openly preaching things that other active duty chaplains cannot say.”
“But homosexuality is a combat divider, dividing one’s reason to live while taking breaks on the combat field to change diapers all because their treacherous sin causes them to lose control of their bowels,” Klingenschmitt said, reading from the retired chaplain’s statement.
Klingenschmitt apologized to his listeners for “the graphic image” he shared with them.
“But there are physical and biological consequences of that kind of conduct and he’s just pointing that out,” he said.
Other portions of the press release, which Klingenschmitt did not read on air, identified homosexuality as “the worst sin described in the Holy Bible” and punishable by “eternal damnation.”
It’s a shame that the U.S. military, historically known to be a beacon of morality and religious tolerance and freedom, while the civilian sector has engaged in immorality, is now having its nose shoved in the dirt of filth to make the Sinners-in-Chief in the highest echelons of politics — the perverts, the pedophiles, and the psychiatrically ill — feel better about themselves,” the claplains’ statement said.

Here's the thing; well, three things actually. One, the claim about gay soldiers and diapers is false, as is the claim about psychiatric illness, pedophilia and perversion, and, of COURSE you cannot attack a segment of those who are serving in our military, on the basis of religious claims.

White Supermacy has their own weird religious concoction, but no one would think it acceptable for a military chaplain for them preaching hatred or violence against Jewish members of the armed forces, or black members of the military, much less promoting them for it. Chaplains have to serve ALL members of the military, not just their narrow demographic. Clearly, chaplains who promote the views of this bigot cannot do that.

Both Limbaugh and this chaplain, and the religious right that supports them, are through this committing a very political and very real assault on the LGBT community members, in and outside of the military, and very clearly attacking their fellow Americans in some of the worst possible ways.
